Good Life, Mopping and Early America

So there I was, mopping my kitchen floor, not thinking about much at all. Suddenly "Good Life" by OneRepublic came on Pandora. And I was filled with thanksgiving!!! I looked around and started counting the blessings abounding all around me: I have a house, with floors. I have a family who can make messes. I have a mop and bucket and soap and hot water. I have a body able to scrub and clean. I have so much more than I can even name!!! And then I thought about the book I've been reading, "An Untamed Land" by Lauraine Snelling...about early settlers who came from Norway to the Dakota Territory...the way they lived in a covered wagon until their sod house was built, the way they had to hunt for food, not sure if they would survive the winter. Oh my goodness, do we have the "Good Life" or what?!! Mopping my kitchen floor never felt so good!

"Oh, this has gotta be the good life, this has gotta be the good life, this could really be a good life, good life...
please tell me what there is to complain about" - OneRepublic
