Such A Sap!

I'm normally the tough one, the one who keeps order, with the stiff upper lip. At funerals, I "stay strong" for everyone else and then cry in my pillow at night. But the older I get, the sappier I'm getting!!
Today, I went to CAH's First Grade Fall Festival at school. I arrived in time to participate in Morning Program, a half-hour of singing and sharing for 1st, 2nd and 3rd graders. They usually sing 2 songs, then they stand for the Pledge of Allegiance and sing a patriotic song. One time, they sang Bette Midler's "From A Distance" and I got all weepy. Today, they sang Lee Greenwood's "God Bless the USA" and the combination of that song, their little voices and the way they did sign language as they sang, made me melt!
When I watch my children learn a new skill, I get teary. When my children are excited for one another, I get teary. When I hear my children say Bible verses, I get teary. When my children sing, especially praise and worship songs (like NJH singing, "Jesus, Lamb of God, worthy is Your name"), I get very teary. Two weeks ago, my hubby and CAH were baptized at church and boy did I get teary!!
Thanksgiving Day is tomorrow and I have so very much to be thankful for. I won't list every blessing here right now - for one, my in-laws are about to arrive, and two, I'd be a blubbering mess!
More than anything, I am thankful for my salvation and for my family...

  1. awww! hugs to you! i think it's the mom in us that gets us all teary.
as our little ones grow up, we tend to lose our emotional control. i think it's because we know some day they will be on their own...as it should be. but it doesn't make it easier on us moms!!
